Lund, Sweden – March 14, 2022 – Fåhraeus Startup & Growth AB (FSG) invests SEK 3 million in the newly founded medtech company Nygen Analytics, which is getting ready to launch its new product. The company is financed mainly by Fåhraeus Startup and Growth, and Linus Wiebe of FSG joins its board as chairman.
The company was founded at Lund University by Parashar Dhapola and Göran Karlsson, who have worked for several years on reducing the memory needed to analyse all variants of single-cell genomics. Single-cell genomics means studying DNA and genes cell by cell. The method has broad medical use, from diabetes to cancer and complex brain research, and is a fast-growing method across medical research fields. With conventional technology it is very memory-intensive. Nygen Analytics simplifies and speeds up the analysis with highly optimised algorithms in the cloud, making it a sustainable and cost-effective solution for analysing this type of data.
“The investment allows us to continue developing our software and to cover the costs of the whole first year of the launch, with everything that involves, such as upcoming recruitment and marketing and sales efforts,” said Göran Karlsson, CEO and co-founder of Nygen.
